Senior Music Merit Scholarship
The CNYAMT Senior Music Merit Scholarship provides tuition assistance to a high school senior pursuing a degree in music at an accredited college, who demonstrates a proficiency in performance (vocal, instrumental, or keyboard), an involvement in relevant musical activities and a commitment to the further study of music.

CNYAMT Music Merit Scholarship For High School Seniors Pursuing a College Degree in Music
​
Purpose:
To provide tuition assistance to a high school senior pursuing a degree in music at an accredited college, who demonstrates a proficiency in performance (vocal, instrumental, or keyboard), an involvement in relevant musical activities and a commitment to the further study of music.
This year’s scholarship total is $1000.00 to be divided among deserving applicants.
Deadline: May 15th. (Any late or incomplete applications will not be accepted).

Eligibility:

Student must be a high school senior in good academic standing on track to graduate during the current academic year.

Student must currently be taking lessons from a CNYAMT teacher.

Student must have participated in 3 CNYAMT events.

Students who have competed and won the high school scholarship competition are not eligible for this scholarship.

Student must be approved by their current CNYAMT teacher.

Students must submit their scholarship application by the deadline date, May 15th.
Restrictions:

The scholarship check will be paid directly to the recipient therefore the student will be required to provide CNYAMT with official enrollment verification before receiving their award.

CNYAMT reserves the right to withdraw an award if the student does not graduate from high school, does not enroll as a music major in an accredited college music program during the current academic year or provides false information.

CNYAMT reserves the right to distribute no awards if none of the applicants meet the basic standards of acceptability as judged by the scholarship committee.

The winner of the Senior Scholarship Competition is not eligible for this scholarship.
Notification:

All applicants and their teachers will be notified of the committee’s decision within 30 days of the submission deadline.
Awards:

The amount of the award given will be pre-determined each year by the CNYAMT scholarship committee.

Receiving the award will be based on the student’s relevant musical experiences, musical potential and commitment to the study and performance of music.

The scholarship committee shall consist of active members of CNYAMT.

The committee will consider and discuss all the information given in the application before making their decision.

2024 CNYAMT Music Merit Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to Madelynn Hilt, student of Gayle Ross and Dana DiGennaro; and Ava Tyler, student of Gayle Ross, who are the recipients of the CNYAMT 2024 Music Merit Scholarship. They have both distinguished themselves at the local, county and state levels for their outstanding performances, earned various musical awards, and participated in numerous student events. They will each be awarded $750.00 to be used toward their college education. Thanks to the generosity of Patricia DeAngelis, we were able to increase the amount of Merit Scholarship from $1000 to $1500.The CNYAMT Music Merit Scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior planning to major in music in college.

Madelynn is pursuing a degree in Music Education at Syracuse University. She graduated from Cicero North Syracuse High School in June.
​
Ava is attending The Manhattan School of Music majoring in Musical Theater. She also graduated from Cicero North Syracuse High School in June.
